I am back again! I know it’s been a few weeks since I was able to do this, getting ready for Powercon kept me really busy. But it was well worth it as I had a great show and met a lot of cool people. Hopefully some of you were able to stop by and meet me. Now, I am ready to do my top five comic book covers of this week! Are you ready? Every week (sort of) I choose the comic book covers that grab my attention. They can be sexy or shocking, what ever makes me take notice and want to read that issue. So here we go with this week’s picks.
All New Executive Assistant Iris #1 (Direct Market Cover)
From: Aspen Comics - Cover Artist: Pasquale Qualano
Very cool cover! She looks like she is ready to do some damage. Love women who wear skin tight cat suits and carry weapons.… Almost like my day job. This image would make a great poster.
Synopsis: An all-new direction for the Executive Assistant that started it all begins right now! Executive Assistant Iris is free from the murky past that has haunted her fate and threatened her existence up until this point. Now, with her former master Ching, the mastermind Mazutsu and the CIA a distant memory, Iris will painstakingly discover that the start of a new life for an Executive Assistant can be anything...but free from danger!
Batman 66 #3
From: DC Comics - Cover Artist: Michael Allred
So excited that the live-action Batman television show has its own comic book! Awesomely fun cover by Mike Allred. Reminds me of the cover for Batman #251. It’s fun, poppy and really into the spirit of the TV show. I really like everything about Batman 66, I’m collecting the figures and having a great time reading the comic.
Synopsis: To protect his beloved Gotham City, The Batman is forced to release his deadliest enemy...THE JOKER! Will Batman be able to put the genie back in the bottle? Who does The Joker have working with him on the outside? Why does Robin have to ride in a sidecar on the Batcycle? BATMAN '66 rolls into high gear with mystery and mayhem!
Bomb Queen Deluxe Ed HC Vol. 03
From: Image Comics - Cover Artists: Jimmie Robinson
I have no idea what is going on here but it looks pretty crazy, LOL! A severed hand, floating eye, explosions in the background and a hot chick doing some sort of flip. I have heard of the title “Bomb Queen” here and there, but never had a chance to pick it up. However, if this cover is any indication of what I can expect this looks like one hell of a comic book!
Synopsis: BOMB QUEEN Volumes 5 and 6 completely re-mastered into a beautiful deluxe over-sized edition that will sit proudly on any pervert's...er, we mean collector's shelf! Featuring cameos by ShadowHawk, Youngblood, even President Obama!
Dark Shadows #20
From: Dynamite Comics - Cover Artist: Francesco Francavilla
I love Dark Shadows. The Gothic tone of the show is something I really get into. I’m actually watching the entire series currently, I have made it to just over 100 episodes. So the comic book for me is a cool added experience. This cover captures that retro horror that I love so much. Brilliant work.
Synopsis: Barnabas Collins faces off against the darkest parts of his soul in a war to change the dire fate of everyone in Collinwood. Will his allies stand beside him or will they be forced to sacrifice Barnabas in order to save themselves?
Honey West TPB Girl For Hire
From: MOONSTONE - Cover Artists: Malcolm McClinton
I am not familiar with Honey West, but I do love the film noir look of this cover. Sexy and exciting with a hint of danger.
Synopsis: Honey West - part Marilyn Monroe and part Mike Hammer! The first woman of private eye fiction, and the first woman character in the lead role of an action TV show, returns with all new swinging 60's sexy and thrilling mysteries! Gloria Fickling's creation has solved mysteries in a series of 10 novels, and was also the star of the TV series Honey West starring Anne Francis! Collects issues #1-7.
